3. Why Freelancer Collective
I have been a freelancer and hired freelancers for almost 10 years. I have mostly used rentacoder, elance, and upwork. What these sites have in common is that their goal is to maximize their own profits, not the profits of freelancers. These sites are just job boards with neat features, yet they take an increasing share of the pie. What used to be a 7% cut on rentacoder is now something like a 22% cut on upwork.
By banding together, freelancers can keep the entire pie and make decisions that grow the pie.

5. Tech and Non-Tech Together?
How is it possible for freelancers with different areas of expertise to band together? For example, although a lawyer and a coder can join together for getting a great deal on an accountant, they can't pool resources for inbound marketing because they require different marketing content.
The Freelancer Collective solves this problem with "Groups." Based on your personal profile, you will belong to one or more Groups. You only fund projects that benefit Groups to which you belong.
6. How Group Decisions are Made
All Members who belong to the Group conducting the vote have the option, but not obligation, to submit one vote. If the Members decide to do so, they can switch from a system where each Member can vote on every decision to one where Members vote to select representatives who vote on their behalf.

7. The Legal Aspect
At this time, the only legal structure to the Freelancer Collective is an agreement that every Member signs with the manager of the collective, which will be Pico Ventures Inc. If the Members decide to do so, they can set up a legal entity (e.g. LLC) for the Freelancer Collective.
